The tour was enjoyable, and Ben was an effective guide. However, I have some reservations that led to my three-star rating. Compared to other food tours in Encinitas, there was limited historical context, and the nearby restaurants left little opportunity to explore the town. Additionally, the tour lasted only 2.5 hours instead of the advertised three, which made the $88 price feel a bit steep.
David was outstanding, insightful, and very attentive. The tour was meticulously organized, and every restaurant featured delicious food.
The guide provided an excellent experience! My only concern is that there should be just one sweet item, and it should be the donuts, as they were outstanding.

We enjoyed various culinary delights, including whipped tzatziki and light dolmathes from Village Kabob, housemade pasta at Chiotti's, craft beer and vibrant energy at Pizza Port, exceptional tacos al pastor with unique serrano chile salsa at Señor Grubby's, and delicious gelato at GelatoLove. I was surprised to learn that phyllo flakes elevate Dubai chocolate! Throughout the tour, we met restaurant owners, bartenders, and a limoncello maker, all of whom provided personal insights into the vibrant food scene in this coastal village. It was more than just tasting food; it gave us a glimpse into the community and spirit of Carlsbad. We left feeling satisfied and equipped with history, eager to visit the restaurants on David’s recommended list. It was an amazing experience. Thank you, David!
