This was a fantastic experience that I would highly recommend to anyone who loves kayaking. Just an FYI, there isn’t a specific time reserved; you can arrive anytime on your booked day.
My daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful time renting kayaks. We didn't join a tour, but they happily accommodated us when we just dropped in.
We rented kayaks for two hours and decided to explore on our own. We were meant to receive maps for navigation, but the girl only provided brief verbal instructions that seemed easy. Sadly, we found ourselves in a smaller section of the creek with no way forward and had to return the kayaks sooner than planned. I would suggest going, but if you opt for solo paddling, be sure to ask for a map.
It was our first kayaking experience, and it turned out to be a memorable time for both my husband and me. We had a lot of fun and truly enjoyed the activity.
We chose the self-guided tour featuring both single and tandem kayaks. Following the advice to head left, we paddled around the marina and reached the railroad bridge. The wind made our outward journey challenging, but we had an easier return. It’s virtually impossible to get lost. We encountered American oystercatchers and ospreys along the way. The gear was excellent, accommodating our varying skill levels.
An incredible experience throughout! The wildlife and sea creatures were truly impressive. The staff was knowledgeable and very helpful.
Seeing Cape May from the water was a great experience, especially since bigger boats can't reach those areas. We encountered plenty of wildlife and had a thrilling time racing around.
This tour is suited for those with prior kayaking experience. A helpful young man assisted us at the shop, managing to stay friendly despite his busy schedule. He showed us where to find life jackets, but I ended up choosing one that was too large, which made paddling uncomfortable. The water was calm despite strong winds, and we mainly paddled in a marina, so caution around larger boats was necessary. We appreciated the abundant wildlife, including a turtle that swam right past us and numerous birds. If you're seeking a pleasant couple of hours on the water, this experience is enjoyable.
Although we didn’t get to experience the tour, I felt compelled to write a review due to the tour operator's integrity and helpfulness. Our tour was cancelled because of low sign-ups during off-season, and the operator forgot to inform us. When we arrived, he sincerely apologized, took responsibility for the mistake, and assured us of a full refund. We inquired about renting kayaks for some independent paddling, but he discouraged this, citing the strong winds and potential challenges against the current. Instead, he generously offered us free spots on their upcoming Osprey boat tour. We accepted and had a fantastic bird watching experience.
