The guide was friendly and knowledgeable, but the company's attitude was lacking. We arrived 10 minutes early at 10:00 only to find out we should have been there at 9:45, and the group had already left. There was no transportation provided from the meeting point to the embarkation site, which necessitated an $18 Uber ride. We also did not see manatees, and were informed that sightings are less than 50% likely. However, the mangrove was beautiful, and we did spot a dolphin. It was frustrating but not completely disappointing.
It was an incredible day out on the water. Our guide was excellent, leading us on a fantastic adventure with perfect weather and calm waters.
We had a pleasant experience, and the guide was effective. Sadly, we only spotted a few interesting birds and didn't encounter any other wildlife, which was disappointing. However, we got a solid arm workout and appreciated a lovely day on the water.
Our guide was extremely friendly and had a lot of knowledge. The mangroves were stunning, and we even had the chance to see a shuttle launch from the water.
The location was excellent, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I would recommend them for rentals. Unfortunately, the tour left much to be desired; it took us through an open ocean channel when I expected it to be more of an inlet. While we spotted dolphins from afar, I would have preferred to explore the Merritt Island tour instead.
Renting kayaks and exploring on your own would be a better use of your money than this guided tour. I had several issues that led to my 2-star rating. First, I was under the impression that we would have a private tour for our group of eight, but instead, we were combined with a group of fifteen. This was annoying, especially since I specifically requested not to be with a large group when booking. The guide was indifferent and suggested I contact the office, which offered an apology but no compensation. Second, the guide seemed to want to finish the tour quickly. We were part of a large group that wore her out, and she frequently mentioned how tired she was. She hurried us along to complete the route. Lastly, she provided incorrect information just to keep the pace up. For instance, when we saw manatees, instead of allowing us to appreciate them, she rushed us to an island for birds, claiming it was to avoid disturbing the manatees during their "mating season," which was inaccurate for late November. This resulted in us missing out on enjoying the manatees. Ultimately, we finished in about an hour and a half, mostly paddling in a large flotilla. When I asked if we could rent kayaks for a little longer, she said no. Overall, it was a disappointing experience that felt like a waste of time.
I had a fantastic experience on this kayaking trip with Dakota and her cat. The weather was lovely, and there was plenty of parking at the kayaking location.
Eric was a fantastic guide, incredibly knowledgeable and ready to answer all our questions about the environment. We truly appreciated his insights into the local flora and fauna. We could have easily spent the whole day kayaking with him. Our gratitude for the wonderful experience is immense, and we look forward to returning to hopefully witness the bioluminescence on our next trip.
We had a wonderful experience on the kayaking tour with Eric. Even a week later, I’m still reminiscing about it. We encountered numerous manatees up close, paddled through enchanting mangroves, and truly felt like we were in another world. I captured many amazing photos while fully enjoying the experience. Eric ensured we were well-prepared and made us feel completely secure throughout. As a queer traveler, I appreciated supporting a fantastic queer-owned business. The staff was welcoming and offered great local dining and drinking recommendations. I wholeheartedly recommend A1A to anyone visiting the area, as their passion for showcasing the beauty and excitement of the locale is evident.
The experience was both enjoyable and enlightening. Eric provided a wealth of information about the local ecosystem, kayaking basics, and the town. He was an excellent guide; although we didn’t spot any manatees due to weather conditions, we still had a great time learning about the other wildlife we encountered. We will definitely return.
