For those seeking stunning views and engaging stories, this tour is a perfect choice. Our guide Brian was exceptional; he was so knowledgeable, sharing history that felt like a conversation with a close friend. His deep understanding of the area was impressive. There was quite a bit of driving involved, so if you’re sensitive to road travel, bring some snacks, but each mile brought breathtaking sights that left us in awe, eager to capture every moment. By the end, we felt sun-kissed, full of tales, and wished we could keep Brian in our family. Overall, the scenery was postcard-worthy, the stories were book-worthy, and the guide was invaluable. I highly recommend this experience.
This tour was well-tailored for cruise ship passengers, allowing us to cover a lot of ground in a comfortable van. Our guide Brian shared a wealth of information, but his personal anecdotes truly stood out. We had plenty of photo opportunities, and he cleverly arranged for us to pick up sandwiches to enjoy later on the beach. I particularly loved the ferry ride across a small stream, which highlighted the relaxed pace of life on Cape Breton Island. Although it was disappointing that we had to backtrack instead of making a larger loop and didn’t have more time, the stops on the way back offered variety.
My wife and I anticipated some wonderful vistas of the Cabot Trail, but this tour fell short. Frank, our driver and a local, was personable but spent more time sharing stories about his family and coal mining than discussing the region's history and culture. Time management left much to be desired. There were no clear instructions on when to return to the bus, and a quick sandwich stop extended to a 35-minute sit-down meal, accompanied by two long bathroom breaks. These delays consumed over two hours of our time. Even though I learned the entire loop could normally be done in 4–5 hours, we barely made it halfway through the trail before we had to turn back for the cruise port. We only saw 4–5 overlooks; they were pleasant but not particularly stunning. Interestingly, many older participants appeared to enjoy the outing, viewing it as more of a social event than a sightseeing excursion. Therefore, for younger travelers interested in dramatic views and cultural insights, I suggest exploring other options. However, for older guests seeking a relaxed experience with fellow cruisers, this tour could be suitable.
Our guide was exceptional, providing us with a wealth of historical information about the region we were exploring as well as insights into the history of Sydney.
We enjoyed a fantastic day with our guide Brian, who was incredibly knowledgeable and shared captivating stories and historical insights. He took us to numerous sights and ensured we returned to our cruise punctually. I highly recommend this company.
I had the impression that our tour for six people would be private when I booked it, but upon arrival, the van was crowded with 14 adults, leaving little space. The driver mentioned we would reach the Mick Mau reservation, but that didn't occur. I expected to drive to the top, yet was informed it was too congested. While the driver was knowledgeable, he shared too many personal stories and didn't engage much with the group.
Misty, the owner of Cabot Discovery Tours, maintained excellent communication throughout our experience. Our guide Brian navigated the stunning countryside safely and was both friendly and knowledgeable. Having grown up in the area, he shared a wealth of information on various topics. The transport van, about two years old, was impeccably clean and appeared nearly new. I highly recommend this tour.
The tour was well-organized, and Brian was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the experience of exploring the island.
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and found our guide to be engaging and well-informed. However, potential participants should be aware that it involves a significant amount of riding and sightseeing with limited opportunities for exploration. This suited us perfectly, but younger travelers may not appreciate it as much.
Having gone on over 20 cruises, we can confidently say that this excursion was the best we've experienced. Our guide, Brian, was incredibly knowledgeable and took us to hidden spots that larger buses couldn't access. We enjoyed a meal at a local restaurant known for its award-winning chowder, and Brian shared many engaging stories about the area, all with wonderful humor and east coast charm. He also managed the timing perfectly, ensuring our group of 11 returned in time for our ship. I highly recommend this tour.
