The tour with Sydcoast Cruize was enjoyable, relaxed, and tailored to our interests, led by the friendly and polite guide, TJ, along with four other guests. We experienced a lot in the beautiful Canadian nature during a lovely early autumn day with sunshine and water all around us. It was a reminder of nature's independence. Thank you for everything, and we hope to return to Sydney, N.S. soon. Thomas & Katja from Hamburg, Germany.
The guide provided minimal information, and we struggled to hear him at all. As a result, we didn't learn anything about the region. This was the worst private tour we've experienced.
During our stop in Sydney as part of a cruise, we organized this “mini-Cabot” tour independently, expecting a good experience for our extended family. The staff and service were satisfactory with prompt responses, so no issues there. However, the main issue is that it felt more like an extended taxi ride. The highlights were a few roadside viewpoints, a brief visit to a local cultural college (which was somewhat interesting), a chocolate shop, and a bakery. We anticipated seeing more of the Cabot Trail, but it's impossible to truly appreciate it in such a limited timeframe. While it did spark my interest in possibly returning to explore the area and the complete Cabot Trail, don’t be misled into thinking you’ll see much on a four-hour round trip.
The Cabot Trail tour was extensive and featured beautiful stops that allowed us to truly appreciate the rural landscape. Frank, our guide, provided an abundance of information and answered every question we had.
Our driver greeted us right as we disembarked and picked up another couple from a hotel. The drive along the Cabot Trail was enjoyable, and the driver was both friendly and safe. However, those sitting in the back struggled to hear him due to highway noise and his accent. We took the ferry and made several scenic stops, including a chocolate shop and a local restaurant. I'm really happy we chose this excursion, as it provided ample time to enjoy the Cabot Trail and still have time to explore the city and sample lobster. I would happily do it again. It's a worthwhile investment of time and money, plus it felt more personal compared to larger tour buses.
Based on our experience, I can honestly say it was not worth it. The driver didn't follow the planned itinerary, and from the back of the minivan, the road noise and the driver's accent made it difficult to hear anything. On the brighter side, the fall colors were stunning.
The listing was misleading; we missed several locations and did not receive the promised water. Communication about the meeting time was unclear. As for the tour company, it felt more like a taxi service using their vehicles for tours. We learned they aren't licensed to drive on the Cabot Trail. The seating was cramped for three individuals. During the tour, the driver was friendly but lacked the in-depth local knowledge I anticipated. We nearly encountered two accidents, and the itinerary didn't clearly specify the duration at each stop, though the driver did show some flexibility.
The tour was excellent, featuring a knowledgeable guide and stunning fall colors. However, we initially believed it was a 4-hour tour, only to learn it would be 6 hours. This caused some anxiety, considering we were on a cruise ship, but we returned with plenty of time to spare.
We made five stops along the Cabot Trail, and there were only four of us in the mini van. We enjoyed several restroom breaks, a visit to a sandwich shop, and plenty of opportunities to take photos.
Amal was our driver, and the experience was fantastic! We enjoyed the stunning fall colors in all their glory. I would certainly choose this excursion again if given the chance.
