The tour of the Cabot Trail was truly an unforgettable experience. The breathtaking scenery ranged from rugged coastlines to rolling highlands and serene lakes, with every turn revealing another stunning view. Traveling with a small group made the journey more personal and laid-back. We had ample time to stop at lookouts, explore small communities, and take photos at our own pace. A fun highlight was the brief ferry ride across the water, which added a delightful local touch. Our guide was exceptional, sharing local history and interesting stories that fostered a deeper connection to the region. By the end of the day, our group unanimously agreed it was the highlight of our trip. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting.
Ensure your driver has a strong command of English so you can fully understand the tour. Otherwise, you're essentially paying $228 for a taxi ride.
I had the impression this would be a bus tour given the mentions of air conditioning and wifi. Instead, it turned out to be a taxi ride covering just a small segment of the Cabot Trail: 2.5 hours from Sydney to Highlands, followed by a 2-hour return trip. While the driver was pleasant, they lacked substantial historical knowledge. At $338 for two people, it felt overpriced.
The drive was stunning with multiple stops along the way. Our driver, Amal George, was friendly and courteous. He was mindful of our time constraints and ensured we returned to the port as needed.
The autumn colors were impressive, likely around 70 percent of peak. Our driver George was friendly and provided us with insights about the sights along the Cabot Trail.
The drive along the Cabot Trail wasn't entirely what I anticipated. I expected to visit artisan shops featuring woodworking and goats’ milk soaps, but it primarily turned out to be a scenic drive with stops to capture photos of Bras d’Or Lake. The fall colors made the journey stunning, and although I might not have thoroughly read the tour description, it ended up being a wonderful experience. We were fortunate to have nice weather—sunny and 75 degrees F—which locals said is quite rare for early October in this region. There were a few points to note: the tour description mentioned bottled water and air conditioning in the vehicle. When I inquired about the water, our guide George kindly offered me his unopened bottle, but no other bottled water was available for the group. Additionally, the vehicle’s vents blew hot air during the last couple of hours, making it uncomfortable. At the Clucking Hen Cafe & Bakery, where we intended to have lunch, the staff appeared unprepared for the crowd; although our group was small, it was busy when we arrived. The front counter staff seemed overwhelmed, and one order was messed up. After waiting more than half an hour to place a meal order, we decided to leave, still hungry. The other couple from our group had a similar experience with their soup order, receiving only one out of the two they requested. Despite these concerns, it was a lovely day overall, and George was knowledgeable, friendly, and personable throughout the trip.
The experience was delightful and punctual. The guide provided insightful commentary on history and nature throughout the journey. Jaipal knew the perfect spots for breathtaking views. I appreciated the service so much that I booked a personal tour with this company after the day trip.
The tour along the east coast of Cape Breton Island was outstanding. The driver was gracious and accommodating, providing just the right level of information without overwhelming us. We visited beautiful locations for photos, making the day a resounding success.
The guide and driver worked hard to provide an engaging experience despite our narrow window of time. However, mid-April feels premature for this tour, as many attractions were closed and trees were still bare. It would be more advisable to take this tour in mid-May or later. On the plus side, there was no heavy traffic, which can be a problem during peak season.
