This was an incredible experience overall. Our guide, Mac, has an intimate knowledge of the island from his upbringing there and his family’s long history. His friendly demeanor, combined with his insights, made for a fantastic outing. The off-road aspect was a great addition, and his personal stories enhanced the enjoyment. Highly recommended; you’re sure to have a wonderful time.
If you're visiting Cape Breton, this is an experience you shouldn't miss. Mac, the owner and guide, expertly leads you through the island's backcountry, showcasing some truly hidden treasures. Be prepared for stunning photo opportunities. His deep understanding of Cape Breton's history and lore enriches the jeep tour significantly. I strongly endorse Cape Breton Backcountry Adventures to enhance your overall exploration of the area.
This tour in Cape Breton is absolutely essential. Mac is extremely knowledgeable about the area, sharing fascinating insights into its history, stories, and environment. He creates a relaxed atmosphere, engaging in conversation on various topics and is genuinely friendly. His passion for Cape Breton and its stunning landscapes is infectious. Booking with Mac promises an unforgettable experience.
We traveled to Cape Breton for the Celtic Colours festival and stayed at the Membertou Hampton in Sydney. I highly recommend it for its cleanliness, cozy beds, fitness facilities, pool, and complimentary breakfast buffet, which is excellent, plus they offer evening popcorn and occasionally soup. The hotel is linked to a great restaurant. I suggest taking a day to explore the Cabot Trail. The breathtaking views showcase stunning fall colors and ocean scenery, with many charming shops and restaurants along the route. The Gaelic College is a notable stop, and if you're into history, Louisburg is a worthwhile destination. Don't overlook the Alexander Graham Bell Museum in Baddeck. During the festival, the island gets busier, but you can enjoy concerts featuring Celtic music, bagpipes, and step dancing. There are numerous cultural activities happening, and I even learned needle felting. If you're planning to go during the festival, join the email list to fully utilize the available venues and events, as some can sell out fast, making it crucial to know when tickets become available. Keep in mind that the festival coincides with Canadian Thanksgiving.
We had a wonderful experience with Mac, who shared incredible insights about our family history. When we realized we forgot our car fob at the hotel in Cheticamp, he went out of his way to help us retrieve it during our fantastic over 4-hour tour. He was an excellent guide and made our two-week trip to the east coast unforgettable.
We participated in a 2-hour mini tour with our guide, Matt, who was very friendly and provided us with excellent insights about the local region. We visited some stunning locations that many people might miss.
I had a fantastic six-hour tour with Cape Breton Back Country Adventures along with my friends. Our guide, Mac, who is also a co-owner, was an engaging host full of intriguing stories about the rich history of Nova Scotia. His deep-rooted connection to the area made the landscape truly come alive. The Jeep was very comfortable, and we had ample opportunities to admire the scenery, take photos, and explore. Highlights included a leisurely lunch at The Dancing Goat and an impressive visit to a fish hatchery overflowing with salmon and trout. The stunning views combined with Mac’s storytelling made the experience exceptional. This tour is ideal for anyone looking to discover the real history and beauty of Cape Breton beyond typical tourist spots.
Our day exploring Cape Breton was nothing short of extraordinary. For those wanting to experience breathtaking natural beauty away from typical tourist destinations, this adventure is perfect. We enjoyed stunning mountains, valleys, lakes, and vibrant fall colors, all while learning about the island's history. This was by far the best part of our New England/Canada cruise, and we felt sad when it concluded. The beauty seen in person surpasses what pictures can convey. We’re grateful for the wonderful memories, thanks to Mac.
This tour was amazing. Even as someone who has lived on the island for 12 years, I discovered so much about Cape Breton that was previously unknown to me. We went on a winter tour where we snowshoed to the sap lines at the Margaree Valley Maple farm, followed by a tasting session. The stop at the Normaway Inn allowed us to interact with horses and an adorable donkey, and we also saw Highland Cattle. I have only positive things to say about the guides; our larger group utilized two jeeps traveling together. The level of customization they provide is impressive and truly unique for this island. Their access to remarkable locations is incomparable. This experience is definitely worth the investment—it's likely to become a highlight of your visit to the island.
Spending the day like this was fantastic. It covered all aspects—adventure, historical and cultural insights, breathtaking views, safety, and plenty of laughter. We had a blast snowshoeing at the maple syrup farm and captured many photos. We strongly suggest including this experience in your Cape Breton itinerary.
