This six-hour Jeep tour covers a 95-mile round trip starting from Cañon City, ascending to over 11,000 feet as it winds through the historic gold mining towns of Victor and Cripple Creek. You’ll navigate old railroad tunnels en route to a view of the fourth largest gold mine in the world, providing a unique glimpse into local history and mining heritage.
The itinerary includes lunch at a local bakery, where you'll find a filling meal before continuing the journey. The route also allows for sights like Indian petroglyphs and dinosaur quarries from the 1870s as you descend down the old stagecoach road. Dress in layers due to the varying elevations and remember to bring a camera for the stunning views.

We had an amazing experience. My two young teacher friends from China, a senior friend from India, and I, an elderly lady from Littleton, CO, truly enjoyed exploring the stunning landscapes between Cañon City and Victor/Cripple Creek, CO. Our jeep driver and guide shared extensive knowledge about the area's history, wildlife, and plant life, showcasing some of the most beautiful backcountry in America. We look forward to booking another tour soon.
I’ve experienced numerous Jeep tours, but this one stands out as exceptional. Will, the owner, prioritizes safety and maintains his jeeps impeccably. He employs outstanding guides, and I was fortunate to have Tom, who made the tour truly memorable with his charm and knowledge. The tour lasted six hours and was absolutely worthwhile. Although I’ve lived here since I was seven, I had never visited Victor, CO, and enjoyed exploring this charming town. We saw many abandoned gold mines and even toured an operational gold pit. The aspen trees were vibrant and breathtaking. Overall, the trip was thrilling, reminding me of the beauty of my home state.
This was a wonderful experience. Our guide, Steve, was fantastic and very knowledgeable. I gained more insights about Colorado on this tour than I have on any other. I highly recommend this tour for both adult and child groups.
We enjoyed our second tour with Colorado Jeep Tours, this time taking the Gold Belt tour with Rick as our guide. It was an incredible day filled with beautiful scenery, historical insights, and fascinating geological and dinosaur information. The weather was a bit chilly, but our driver ensured we were comfortable by closing the plastic windows and providing blankets. Lunch was also excellent. I strongly encourage anyone traveling to the area, as well as residents of Colorado Springs or Denver, to embark on this trip and create unforgettable memories. Thanks to Will, Susie, and Rick!
This was our second jeep tour and it was incredibly enjoyable; we plan to return soon as locals. We opted for the Gold Belt full day tour, led by our wonderful guide Tom. He was an excellent and safe driver, as well as a genuinely nice person. Tom provided a wealth of knowledge about local history, plants, and geology. We had lunch in Victor, where the restaurant accommodated all our unique dietary needs, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. This tour is perfect if you're looking for an exciting off-road adventure, seeing dinosaur tracks and bone quarries, learning about the old west and gold mining history, and viewing Native American petroglyphs. The scenery is breathtaking, and there’s so much to discover in the area. Thank you to Colorado Jeep tours for an outstanding experience!
Spending the day this way was fantastic. Our driver, Wade, was outstanding. His familiarity with the area and exceptional driving skills made it feel like traveling with a friend, which truly enhanced the experience.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We took the Gold Belt Tour from 9 AM to 3 PM, and our guide, Richard, was exceptional. He was informative, approachable, and had a wonderful sense of humor, which really enhanced our day. We also met a fantastic couple from Maine. I highly recommend this tour.
Our experience was outstanding. From choosing the gold bet tour to the easy booking process and getting prompt answers to our questions, everything was perfect. We had a delightful lunch at Gold Camp Bakery Cafe & Deli (make sure to try the pastries!) in Victor, and Tom was a fantastic guide. It was truly a worthwhile and incredibly enjoyable day. We are very happy we decided to do this.
Our experience with Scott, our guide from Colorado Jeep Tours, was both outstanding and informative. My mother and I found the sights in Canon City to be breathtaking, especially the Royal Gorge, which is a must-see for nature enthusiasts and fans of national parks. Scott's knowledge and guidance enhanced our tour, and the company's assistance with scheduling made everything seamless. I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore the area without the stress of driving.
Mike, our guide, was fantastic and shared insights about the area's history throughout the trip. The scenery was stunning, and the Jeep ride was enjoyable. I highly recommend this adventure. Food and water are provided, but it can get chilly at the top, so bring a coat.
