Two hours in a local cannery — an interactive video, custom explanation, and tasting of anchovies with vermouth or wine.
This guided visit lasts two hours and takes you inside a Santoña anchovy cannery. The tour includes an interactive video that delves into the production process, followed by a custom explanation from your guide. Note that on Saturdays and holidays, staff may not be available, and the visit does not include access to processing areas.
At the end of the visit, enjoy a tasting that features two to three anchovy skewers paired with vermouth, wine, or water. It's advisable to be fluent in Spanish to follow along, as the explanations and video are conducted in that language.

This experience felt like a scam. You're placed in a room to watch a video and see virtually nothing. The entire thing only takes half an hour, and the real aim seems to be pushing their anchovies for sale, making the visit feel pointless.
It could be engaging if you speak Spanish, but I don't. The experience is mostly explanations with minimal visits, mainly to a small workshop where they prepare anchovies. There's a brief video explaining salting, cutting, and canning, which helps since the visuals convey a lot. The products themselves are outstanding. I recommend buying locally for the best prices. Unfortunately, there is no documentation available in English or French.
The tour consisted of an 8-minute video, which included additional explanations from the guide. While it was interesting to watch, I had hoped to see more of the actual production process. The tasting experience was excellent, offering a variety of samples with no obligation to buy. The low price of the trip is another great aspect.
We found it fascinating to learn about everything from fishing to packing and gained a deeper understanding of the fishing industry. We enjoyed the experience.
The vermouth tasting was well-explained and enjoyable. We appreciated being so close to the experience; it's something that everyone should absolutely try.
We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and tasting yesterday. The detailed explanation of preparing the boat for fishing, the actual fishing process, and how the anchovies are prepared for canning was remarkable, including a live demonstration. The staff was attentive, and the tasting was delightful. Highly recommend.
This is a family-run business that handcrafts high-quality anchovies. We visited during Easter, and even though it wasn't the season, a woman still provided a demonstration of how the anchovies are made.
