For those seeking an expert guide to off-the-beaten-path Mayan sites, Chelita is highly recommended. We enjoyed a three-day tour of Mayan ruins in Campeche and Quintana Roo, staying two nights in Xipujil. Our guide, Wilberth, was outstanding—extremely knowledgeable about recent archaeological findings, Mayan history, and language, and always ready to provide answers. His passion for the environment and bird watching was evident, and his English skills were superb. We would certainly choose Chelita again.
The trip to Calakmul was fantastic, and our guide Wilbert was exceptional. I gained a lot of knowledge about the Mayans and their incredible city. I highly recommend this experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Willberth's expertise in archaeology and wildlife was impressive. I highly recommend choosing this tour operator.
Calakmul and Balamku were both unforgettable locations. We encountered various local wildlife during our journey to Calakmul, which added to the experience. Climbing one of the temples at Calakmul rewarded us with a view of a monkey and stunning scenery of the area. Balamku was shorter but had a significant surprise that I won't reveal. The meal afterward was delicious and well-deserved. Although the drive can be long for a single day, it's definitely worthwhile. Our guide Willberth was outstanding; he was a quiet gentleman with a deep love for nature and history. I can't recommend this experience highly enough. We visited during the rainy season and had both sites mostly to ourselves.
The trip was enjoyable and went smoothly. However, the guide often missed the bigger picture, focusing too much on details, and their English was not very clear, which made understanding difficult. Breakfast was tasty, and the 200MXN provided for lunch was sufficient for a meal at the restaurant. The views at Calakmul were incredible, and climbing the pyramids was a highlight. That said, it sometimes felt hurried since our guide, with just three of us in the private group, kept moving on without waiting, causing us to miss some information. We also did not have enough time to truly appreciate the views and explore the buildings, skipping many sites and not having enough time to read the informational posters. On a positive note, the guide handled a flat tire well and ensured we got home safely.
