Half-day guided tour of Edzná, covering the ancient Mayan capital's key sites and history.
This half-day tour takes you to the archaeological site of Edzná, an important historical centre of the ancient Mayan civilization. A certified guide will lead you through significant structures, sharing insights about their history and the cultural relevance of this site.
The tour allows you to appreciate the serene atmosphere while exploring the ruins. Expect to gain a deeper understanding of the Mayan world as you walk through well-preserved temples and plazas. Make sure to wear comfortable footwear and bring water, as you'll be navigating through a partially open outdoor site.
Reviews
The ruins are strikingly well preserved and leave a lasting impression. While hiring a guide is an option, the fees can be quite high. Visitors can also climb some of the ruins for fantastic photo opportunities.
A half day that was both inspiring and engaging, made better by an outstanding guide. We chose the English tour, which was well-articulated and highly informative. Traveling in a small group of just five, including another family, was comfortable. The site is stunning, and the peaceful atmosphere is certainly a highlight.
The day trip to Edzna was truly outstanding, with the experience made even better by our kind and highly knowledgeable guide, Berenice.
The guide was knowledgeable and professional. We would certainly choose him for another tour. He arrived on time and provided an excellent experience.
This was a fantastic experience. The Puuc architecture and hydraulic engineering are truly distinctive compared to other sites in the region. In July, the area is quite empty, allowing for a peaceful visit. The only downside is that the road to get there is somewhat remote, lacking phone signal, and the asphalt isn't always in great condition.
Our day at the Edzná ruins with Berenice was fantastic. She was an excellent guide who genuinely engaged with us and showed interest in our other travel experiences, which we valued.
Berenice was our guide at the Mayan archaeological site of Edzna, and she truly stood out as one of the best guides we've encountered in a long time. Her professionalism, friendliness, and extensive knowledge of Mayan culture were impressive. Her passion for the subject made us eager to learn more, and we gained valuable insights during our brief time with her.
We had a fantastic experience with Berenice and Wilbur, who drove us to the Edzná Mayan site. Their exceptional English and friendly demeanor made them great guides. After being picked up at our hotel, we enjoyed a leisurely walk to the entrance, complete with bird watching, which was a delight for one of our group who is an avid birder. The site was just the right size for a two-hour visit, allowing us to ascend the structures, unlike many other Mayan sites, and we gained valuable insights into the culture and practices. Since it was effectively a private group, we had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious meal at a nearby town, featuring fresh fruit and homemade corn bread. Finally, we were dropped off at the bus station to return to Mérida. They operate under Chelita Travel Campeche, and I highly recommend booking other tours with them. If you get the chance, visit the fort and Mayan museum — a stunning spot for a sunset over the Atlantic.
The tour was delightful. Berenice, our guide, was not only friendly but also very knowledgeable. I gained a lot of insight into the site and Mayan culture. Excellent service overall, and I would recommend this tour to all.
Our guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his job. He dedicated plenty of time to thoroughly explain all the exhibits and monuments.
