I purchased two ATVs for two people but was given a single ATV that clearly indicated it was unsafe for a second passenger. The ATV constantly backfired, and the brakes were not functioning. It felt very unsafe. Additionally, the guide's limited English did not help to resolve the issue.
The ATV experience was clearly unsafe for passengers. We paid for two ATVs meant for two people each, but we received only one that accommodated just one safely. There was a sticker warning about the dangers of having a passenger, and the brake was non-functional. I was relieved to leave without injury. This does not meet acceptable standards, and if it had been my first experience, I would avoid using this service again.
I will provide an honest evaluation covering the positive and negative aspects of the experience. The tour guides were polite and friendly, which was a positive. However, this tour was concerning for us as experienced ATV riders. The pickup from our hotel went smoothly, but upon arrival, we encountered severely worn-out ATVs that were in dangerous condition. Every ATV had bald tires, some with cracks, and broken components, including non-functioning brake lights. Many units were leaking fluids, which made the experience even more alarming. One rider had to change vehicles when fluid sprayed on her feet. The overall maintenance of these ATVs was alarming, with my husband’s ATV shutting off during the ride. We were provided with inadequate safety gear, such as bicycle helmets, which are insufficient for potential accidents. It is also unsafe to pair two people on a one-person ATV, which increases the risk of tipping. The lack of safety training was troubling; we had to offer advice to other riders who were inexperienced. The only guidance we received was to accelerate uphill and brake downhill, which is hardly acceptable. Regarding the tour's description, it was misleading. There was no river crossing, and we instead sat by a small sandy area briefly before leaving. We rode on dirt roads littered with garbage and ended up at a rocky beach that wasn't at all appealing. We did not experience the advertised cigar rolling, hot chocolate, or coffee tastings. Instead, the focus was on navigating poorly maintained ATVs, and other participants also expressed disappointment. Locals attempted to sell overpriced items, which felt disrespectful. I regret spending over $200 on this tour and wish I could receive a refund. This review is a genuine account of our experience, and I hope others consider their safety and the misrepresentation of this tour.
I consider myself an experienced rider, having owned a Can-Am Renegade 1000 and now a 2025 850 XMR. I used to be a mechanic, so I’m familiar with machine maintenance. Regarding the equipment, several ATVs had malfunctioning brake lights, one had oil leaking onto a rider, and another had brake fluid streaming from the hand brake’s line. The rear brake lines were cut, rendering the clutch non-functional, which causes the ATV to be always in gear. The tires were entirely worn and some were dangerously cracked. As for the excursion, it does not deliver what is promised. There was no safety briefing at all. While I’m experienced, nine out of eleven in our group were not and kept asking for basic safety advice that should have been covered. The instructions were minimal—just to use gas for hills and brakes for downhill. Couples were paired on single-rider ATVs, which I found very unsafe. The trip involved traveling down a dusty road to a shack with vendors selling overpriced items, like a $30 wooden bottle opener, who became aggressive when we declined. Next, we stopped for a photo op near a cruise ship and then at a beach with more overpriced vendors, even charging for the porta potty. Afterward, we returned to the start, where they attempted to sell us pictures and videos taken during the ride. I paid $111 CAD expecting to visit a chocolate place and enjoy a river and jungle experience as advertised. None of that happened—just received a bottle of water. This feels like blatant false advertising. After my friend's wife posted a negative review, the business owner messaged her, asking her to retract it, claiming it was unwarranted since he’s a small business supporting his family. He also boasted about being an ATV racer, yet the ATVs were subpar compared to what we regularly ride. When her husband sought a refund through Viator, he was told by the owner that it would be denied. Viator then informed him that the merchant refused the refund. It's clear that using them is not a reliable option; it’s best to book through resort representatives or cruise lines to avoid being scammed like we were.
This experience was definitely worth the expense. I had an incredible few hours immersing myself in the local culture. Jose was an excellent guide who ensured our safety and made sure we enjoyed ourselves.
For a fun day filled with great guides, I highly recommend this experience. Johnny picked us up at the cruise ship and shared highlights during our journey back. I felt entirely safe with our ATV guides and had an unforgettable day. I was a bit surprised, however, that they charge an extra $25 for copies of the ATV pictures taken along the way.
The experience was fantastic, with excellent guides. We had a relaxing beach break that included a massage and drinks, followed by a souvenir stop with coffee tasting. I truly enjoyed everything.
They were fantastic! Very kind, and Jhonny was particularly great. I would highly recommend this experience. You get to stop at various locations, and they take pictures for you.
The vendor was prompt in picking us up at the cruise terminal exit. While the ATVs could use some upgrades as they were a bit worn, the route was engaging and included a visit to a cigar maker and a brief stop at the beach. Overall, it was definitely enjoyable.
Riding the ATV for more than two hours was an unforgettable experience, as we explored delightful local tours and found charming shops nestled in Wild Adventure. The local guide and staff generously shared their insights, and we had the chance to visit a beach that's generally overlooked by tourists—an extraordinary and special spot that deeply moved us.
