Three to four hours of thrilling rafting on the Arkansas River — suitable for adventurous beginners and experienced rafters alike.
This half-day rafting experience on the Numbers section of the Arkansas River offers an exhilarating adventure through some of Colorado's most dynamic rapids. Known for its challenging waters, this stretch of the river is perfect for those ready to tackle a new level of excitement. Expect to spend three to four hours navigating the river.
Adventurous beginners seeking thrills and experienced rafters looking to push their limits will both find this outing fulfilling. Be prepared for an invigorating time as you navigate the rapids named by miners who once found them daunting. A secure life jacket and safety briefing are usually provided, but it's important to wear appropriate clothes that can get wet.

I had an excellent trip with my 18-year-old daughter. The fish was wonderful, and the journey from Aspen to Buena Vista via Independence Pass is absolutely breathtaking.
Our rafting experience with Randy on the Numbers was fantastic. He was friendly and had an impressive understanding of the river and surrounding area. We would certainly choose to raft with Randy again.
AVA provided safe transport to and from the river and allowed my teens and me to experience a float trip through Browns Canyon, but that was where the positives ended. The guides showed little charisma or enthusiasm, with no friendly banter or high-fives to engage us. At one moment, I observed guides Whitten and Steven bickering about who had caused their rafts to bump into each other. In contrast, Lakota Guides was enjoying the trip, interacting with riders, splashing, cheering through Class 3 rapids, and sharing high-fives, all while maintaining safety. Additionally, I had ordered a fajita lunch for six at basecamp, but the order wasn't communicated properly, and the chef didn't have enough food prepared. There were several staff members in the office, yet no one appeared to be in charge. Micha did refund my lunch, but that was the limit of the customer service I received.
Brandon was a fantastic guide who really enhanced the experience. Everyone from the check-in staff to those assisting with unloading the raft was also excellent. Highly recommend.
Erico was our tour guide, and he was not only kind and informative but also quite funny. His directions were clear and straightforward without coming off as rude or condescending. I would definitely recommend this experience again.
Rachel was an excellent guide, making our rafting adventure on the Numbers truly enjoyable. Her enthusiasm and clear instructions contributed to a very fun morning.
The rafting experience was enjoyable, but the organization could use significant improvement. We anticipated a half day of rafting, yet spent only an hour on the water, with a lengthy wait for assistance. Although we had pre-signed waivers, the company could not find them and requested us to resend copies. Additionally, there was confusion regarding payment, as they claimed we owed more money. Just a day before, we were informed that our original tour was canceled and were switched to a different river. It would have been beneficial if the company had been more organized and communicated better about the experience. However, the rafting instructor was excellent—fun, informative, and a great leader.
Robby, our guide, was fantastic. He shared intriguing information about the area and prioritized safety above all. He did an excellent job accommodating our family of four, ages 11 to 64. For first-timers, the Burns Vista Browns Canyon half-day tour truly lives up to its reputation.
Our guide possessed great knowledge and was incredibly friendly! Every member of our group had a fantastic time, making it a truly wonderful experience. Since it can still be quite chilly during Memorial Day weekend, I recommend doing this in July or August for more water and greater enjoyment.
Experiencing white water rafting is essential when in Colorado, and AVA rafting stands out as one of the top choices. The guides were fantastic, ensuring we felt safe and at ease while being friendly and making the adventure enjoyable.
