01Santander is the department with the largest cocoa production in Colombia, producing more than 25% of the country's cocoa. Municipalities such as San Vicente de Chucurí, El Carmen or Rionegro and RUITOQUE are the main producers. When visiting any of the cocoa farms in this region you will pass through majestic natural scenery, cocoa forests. The owners of the farms to visit will welcome you with a traditional cup of chocolate and then explain the process and cultivation of cocoa from the plant to the finished product.

04The Cueva de los Aviones is the perfect place to enjoy a day full of adrenaline adventures, where you will find natural slides and crystal clear water pools which provide a perfect environment for taking pictures. The first thing you will feel is to be submerged in a forest crossed by a river and descend through it with ropes in an extreme way, even in some part of the cave you will find a waterfall. The Cueva de los Aviones is not known by many tourists making it look like a magical, natural and virgin place. Once in the place, you will be able to spend several hours and have the opportunity to see all the captivating sites. The guide will show you around and also make sure you have a safe experience. On the way back there is the possibility to stop in San Vicente de Chucurí, a beautiful town with a lot of history and economic importance.
05The hiking paths of this excursions offer the best viewpoints of Bucaramanga. During the approx. 7 km (4.3 mile) hike which takes about 3 to 4 hours, having several little breaks, you will get different impressions of the outskirts of the city. Starting in Cabecera del Llano you will get to know the residential areas of Bucaramanga and you will pass by the green and beautiful campus of the UNAB, one of the best private universities in Colombia. You will walk through steep paths of the tropical rainforest and through other residential sectors located behind the forest. As you keep up walking you will notice that anytime you turn around there is an incredible view of Bucaramanga. On the way you will also find different plants and fruits, such as cacao, coffee, banana and mandarins. At the top, about 600 meters above the city, you will arrive at the restaurant La Niebla which one side has an amazing view of the city and on the other side an incredible view over a green valley.
06The Hacienda La Lajita is a large farm located next to the Topocoro Lake. It has beautiful grassland with an incredible view on the Topocoro Lake that was created due to the dam “Represa Hidrosogamoso”. The farm is the perfect place to do horse-riding (or drive a four-wheeler/ quad-bike). 07Cycling/ mountain biking in Bucaramanga provides you with a great combination of an early-morning exercise and the exploration of Bucaramanga´s rainforest at the fringe of the city. The ride starts in passing through the cabecera del llano neighborhood to the bosque encantado park, then down to the center of Bucaramanga to cross the novena bridge, ending the tour in the real de minas sector, los sueños park. This activity can be done in the morning or in the evening and lasts approximately 3 hours.
08The Chicamocha Canyon is known as the most impressive paragliding site in Colombia and one of the best in the world. Different to many other paragliding sites you are able to fly up to 2.000 meters above ground if the weather conditions permit. The platform is located about 1600 m above sea level while the river is about 550 m above sea level. The paragliding tandem flight itself takes about 15 minutes. Before starting the flight, you will get your equipment and detailed safety instructions. The professional guide also explains you interesting facts about the place and the winds which are different to other paragliding sites.
09El Socorro is one of the most important historical towns in Colombia. It is the place where the first step towards the independence of this country took place. In 1781, the leader Manuela Beltrán tore the "Edict", which was a document of utmost importance for the Spanish, turning this act into an important protest against the Spanish empire. This event originated the Revolution of the Comuneros, a very important event in the history of Colombia. Once in Socorro, you will learn about this and other important historical influences of the town during the tour and in the historical museum. Because of its historical importance, Socorro was declared a heritage town. Without a doubt it is a beautiful town to visit and observe its different churches, parks and historical and colonial buildings.
10The fields near the city of Bucaramanga are fertile and productive, recognized for producing the best citrus fruits in Colombia. Oranges, tangerines, pineapples, passion fruit, lemons, are some of the nationally and internationally recognized for their flavor, color and texture. Upon arrival at the farm, visitors will be able to taste some of these products as well as learn about the process of cultivation, production and marketing from the farmers who will host the visitors.
11The vehicle will be comfortable and share experiences with other local tourists who are in Bucaramanga. You will also visit the peasant market a special place to enjoy a chocolo arepa in a special market shopping environment to see the fruits and vegetables of the region, this makes the tourist can feel in Santanderean lands and also taste the gastronomy as are arepas, sweets, meats and drinks such as guaapo. The climate of the Saints table is super pleasant so it becomes cool and the views of the mountains will be pleasant to the tourist, being accompanied by the guide driver, sayings and jargons of Santander culture will be shared.
