The history of trains in the area is both stunning and thorough. It was a fantastic visit filled with informative displays. I spent the whole afternoon there and could have easily stayed longer. I appreciated the detailed information available. It's affordable and truly worthwhile for families. Enjoy your visit!
Dr. Minnix is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, making us feel like family rather than just tourists. The new employee will greatly benefit from her guidance during the tours. She answered most of my questions and made an effort with those she didn’t know. My son appreciated the attention and interaction she provided. She is truly remarkable.
The museum's exhibit area is limited, but the train tour was excellent and made the trip worthwhile. I really enjoyed the experience.
The experience was fair, but it felt pricey for what was offered, costing $60 for a family of four. The guided tour of the train was enjoyable and informative, but beyond that, there was only a model train layout and some displays on the area's railroad history. The visit was brief, and my kids had the most fun with the wooden train toys in the gift shop's kids' section. About half of the depot was dedicated to business offices. There are no train rides available, and the other three train cars are off-limits for exploration as they are under renovation. At a lower price, I could more easily recommend it.
I had a great time discovering how mail was delivered in the past and learning about the old methods used to reach various cities.
Damon served as a fantastic guide, providing detailed explanations about the historic train cars we explored, including his personal connection to the postal train car. The museum offers rich historical insights as well.
During our visit to the area, our family of four, including two young adult sons, explored the train museum and found it to be well-restored, showcasing the history of train travel. The model train display was particularly detailed and enjoyable. Touring the trains offered a fascinating glimpse into their history. Our sons would have likely appreciated it more at a younger age. However, we encountered an issue as the air conditioning in two of the train cars was not functioning. With temperatures exceeding 90 degrees, it was uncomfortable with over ten people inside, highlighting how hot it could become with the engine running. The heat may also explain why the video displays were not operational. One suggestion for improvement would be for the tour guide to project her voice more or use a microphone while leading the group. We understand she was less experienced and that this was the largest group she had managed. The train museum is a nice addition to any "planes, trains, and automobiles" itinerary in the area.
I had a fantastic tour and an outstanding tour guide on Sunday at 12:15. I can't recall your name, but I appreciate your genuine passion and for suggesting Chaney's Dairy. The food and ice cream were exceptionally delicious.
The train museum is compact yet filled with informative exhibits. Visitors can experience driving a train in a simulator and explore numerous artifacts. It's an enjoyable experience for both children and adults.
We aren't train enthusiasts, but we found this tour intriguing. Traveling from Clarksville, TN for Valentine's Day weekend, I booked it in advance. Our young tour guide was great, sharing local history and details about each train car, along with his family's connection to the train. The museum was well-organized and enjoyable to explore. My husband and I were very glad we opted for this guided tour, learning a lot about this fascinating form of travel.
