This is an update based on my previous review from November. I was contacted by iOutdoors shortly after and they asked if I would change my rating to three stars in return for a $150 refund. They also mentioned that the Captain is no longer with iOutdoors. Regarding my initial experience, first impressions are important. When I approached the boat Captain to introduce myself, he abruptly asked about my target catch. Before I could respond, he rudely interrupted, saying, "Don't say mahi, don’t even think about mahi, they’re 4 miles out — get it out of your head!" This was not a welcoming start. While the temporary mate did work hard to keep our lines out and baited, the Captain offered no further communication, only discussing things with his mate as if we weren’t there. Our trip consisted mainly of trolling right in front of the inlet we had departed from, with no kites, balloons, or gogs used. I requested the mate to switch to sharks for some interesting photos during the last hour since things were slow, but the Captain refused. Additionally, they spent a lot of time on their phones and only interacted with us when we initiated conversation. Despite catching some fish, this experience was the worst charter I've ever been on. I recommend staying away. Date of experience: November 2019.
I took my 13-year-old and 8-year-old on a fishing trip that turned out to be a fantastic highlight. It was a great chance to catch king mackerel, and we even spotted some wahoo. Captain Chris was friendly, and the boat was comfortable, making the experience both fun and safe. It offered a wonderful view of the beautiful surroundings. This was a lovely way to conclude our trip, and I would highly recommend it.
