Reviews
During our weekend in Birmingham, my family chose to take this tour, and we found it to be a valuable experience. Our guide, Taylor, was exceptional. Watching documentaries or reading about the civil rights movement pales in comparison to actually being on the historic sites and hearing stories from those who experienced it firsthand. We explored several locations, with three standout moments: the 16th Street Baptist Church, where four young girls lost their lives in a KKK bombing in the 1960s; Kelly Ingram Park, the site of the Children’s Crusade; and the Civil Rights Activist Committee Headquarters, where we learned from a woman who had been jailed as a child for marching. This tour sparked family discussions on important issues in a way we hadn’t experienced before. I strongly recommend it.
Taylor, our tour guide, was exceptional throughout the entire experience. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to everyone. Thank you.
This tour was incredibly enlightening and easy to follow. It offered a great blend of historical context, current issues, and insights from local business owners. Overall, I had a fantastic experience, and Taylor was an outstanding guide.
Taylor is truly fantastic. Her vibrant energy and profound knowledge of history make for an exceptional experience. I highly recommend her as a guide to anyone visiting; I really appreciate her personality and sense of humor.
Taylor was an incredible tour guide who provided a wealth of knowledge about the history and context of the tour. She shared important black historical facts that I had never learned in school, which impressed me greatly. Seeing a young African American woman articulate her culture so passionately was remarkable. I also appreciated Ms. Roby's insights when we visited the foot soldier’s office. I strongly encourage others to participate in this tour to deepen their understanding of Civil Rights History.
We appreciated our guide's enthusiasm and found it enjoyable to converse with some of her friends about the historical events that took place.
Although we were unable to experience the tour due to our guide's family emergency leading to its cancellation, Antonia went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable day. She directed us to great spots, made necessary calls on our behalf, and even offered to cover some costs, which we politely declined. While I can't provide a review of the actual tour itself, it's important to acknowledge the exceptional support from the team in such difficult conditions. Our fees were also fully refunded.
An impactful experience with a highly knowledgeable guide. Each day provided unforgettable activities and an authentic history lesson without any sugarcoating.
Exploring the churches that served as significant gathering spots during the Civil Rights Movement, especially those where Rev. Martin Luther King once led, was a memorable experience.
This tour is very informative and I strongly recommend it for history enthusiasts and anyone eager to learn about Alabama's complex past.
