The palaces, made from red sandstone and marble, create a scenic arrangement of courtyards, balconies, kiosks, and windows throughout the structure. See the Suraj Pol or Sun Gate, which serves as the main entrance to the fort. Notable palaces include the stunning Chandra Mahal, featuring exquisite paintings, mirrors, and carved panels, as well as the ornately decorated Phool Mahal-Ki-Saal with stucco motifs and mirror work. Additional palaces of interest are Anup Mahal, Dungar Niwas, Ganga Niwas, Gaj Mandir, and Rang Mahal. Inside, the palaces boast grand columns, arches, and elegant screens. The Har Mandir is a grand chapel for the royal family to worship their deities. • Next, travel to the Rat Temple in Bikaner, located 30 K.M. from Bikaner in Deshnok, also known as Karni Mata Temple. This historic temple, 600 years old, is dedicated to Karni Mata, a manifestation of Goddess Durga. Its notable features include large intricately carved silver gates gifted by Maharaja Ganga Singh. A unique aspect of the temple involves the rats that roam freely on the premises, regarded as sacred and fed by priests and devotees who believe they will be reincarnated in the family of the goddess Karni Mata. These revered rats are called Kabbas, attracting numerous visitors and pilgrims from across India as well as curious tourists from around the world. • At the conclusion of this day, guests will be dropped off at their preferred location in Jaisalmer city.
