• The first location is Ratnagiri, referred to as the "hill of jewels." It offers a peaceful setting atop a mountain, which was historically a notable Buddhist educational center, potentially rivaling the famous Nalanda. Visitors will encounter extensive ruins of monasteries with intricately carved entrances and numerous votive stupas, along with magnificent Buddha and Bodhisattva statues dating from the fifth to thirteenth centuries. • The next stop is Udayagiri, recognized as the "sunrise hill." This site is the largest among the diamond triangle locations. Expect to see vast monastic ruins set amidst picturesque hills and stunning scenery. Here, visitors can find two large monasteries, substantial stupas, and intriguing rock-cut sculptures, alongside bathing ruins that offer a tranquil glimpse into the past, rich with unsolved mysteries. • The journey concludes at Lalitgiri, the oldest and most sacred of the three locations. It is considered highly significant due to the discovery of what may be Buddha bone fragments within ancient stupas. The remnants of large stupas and monasteries here suggest a continuous Buddhist presence from the post-Mauryan era through the 13th century CE. • The itinerary includes travel from Bhubaneswar and returns.
