What's the itinerary?+
• You will begin with a morning pickup from your hotel and travel to the Vindhyachal mountain foothills to visit the Bhimbetka Rock Shelters from the Mesolithic era. This area features around 750 rock shelters located across seven hills over a distance of six miles. These caves hold some of the earliest evidence of human existence on the Indian subcontinent. Of the 750 rock shelters, 500 are noted for their well-preserved cave paintings that date back 30,000 years. The designs in these caves show similarities to those found in Australia, Africa's Kalahari desert, and Lascaux in France. Spend time exploring this ancient art venue and appreciating the talent of early humans. One remarkable painting depicts a bison attacking a man, which is visible only when sunlight hits it at a specific angle. Following your visit to the caves, a lunch break (excluding beverages) will be provided at a local restaurant. • After lunch, you will travel for 45 minutes to the town of Bhojpur to see its prominent temple dedicated to the Hindu deity Shiva. This 11th-century temple features one of the largest lingas in India, carved from a single rock. The temple's construction was mysteriously halted midway, leaving it unfinished. Visitors can observe architectural designs etched into the nearby rocks and abandoned construction materials on-site. The mason's marks and the rock engravings have aided researchers in understanding the 11th-century Indian temple-building methods. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has classified the temple as a Monument of National Importance. The tour concludes with a return drive to Bhopal, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.
