Bethlehem

Bethlehem is a city situated just six kilometres south of Jerusalem, known for its biblical significance as the birthplace of Jesus. Visitors first encounter the Church of the Nativity, a stunning example of Byzantine architecture originally built in the 4th century, which houses the site traditionally believed to be where Jesus was born. Plan to spend a couple of hours exploring the church and the adjacent Manger Square. The best time to visit is during the festive season in December when the city comes alive with celebrations, but expect large crowds during this period. The surrounding area also features local markets where you can experience the culture.
