Communication with our guide was straightforward, and the pick-up was punctual. We started at the crocodile pool, with a modest entrance fee of 100 dilasi. Our guide, Jarry, provided insightful information about Gambian history, tribes, traditional clothing, and instruments, which we found quite engaging. Upon reaching the pool, we were amazed to see the crocodiles basking in the sun without any fences separating us, making for a suspenseful atmosphere. The sanctuary guides instructed us on which crocodiles were safe to touch, cautioning us to avoid their heads; it was surreal to gently stroke a seven-foot creature. Next, we visited a bustling market where vendors sold a wide array of goods. Then, we proceeded to Lamin Lodge for a boat trip through the mangroves, including a visit to the elephant tree, a historical site where locals took refuge during slavery. The history shared during this trip was truly captivating. While we had to cut our safari short due to tiredness, the experience was remarkable, and we plan to return to Gambia to allow more time for it. A huge thank you to Jimmy and Jarry for making this experience so memorable.
The experience was absolutely fantastic. Jimmy is an excellent guide who provides helpful answers to questions. The crocodiles were entertaining, and the boat tour offered a relaxing atmosphere. Although the market was a bit chaotic, Jimmy managed it excellently. I highly recommend this tour.
Kassama Tours truly stands out as the finest option in the Gambia. Jimmy is not only professional and courteous, but also excels at addressing queries. He exceeded expectations to ensure a memorable experience. This tour is definitely a “must-do” for anyone visiting.
We had an outstanding experience! Jimmy is the finest guide around—so kind and gentle. Our week on the Smiling Coast, especially the time spent with Jimmy, was the highlight of our trip. I highly recommend him to anyone planning to visit The Gambia. I'm truly grateful for the sense of safety and warmth he provided. I would absolutely do this again! Thank you!
Our tour was very enjoyable. The guide and his sister provided great support throughout the experience. We learned a lot about the culture and traditions of Gambia. Additionally, Kassama picked us up from the airport.
The tour operator is family-run, which adds a personal touch. My guide, Jimmy, is a young woman who demonstrated both professionalism and experience. While not every location was appealing, the fishing market stood out as a unique local highlight.
The safari offered a fantastic glimpse into Gambian culture, allowing me to see and even touch crocodiles, explore mango trees, and visit the remarkable 850-year-old cotton tree, which you can enter. Lunch on Sanyang beach was beautiful, although the service left much to be desired. The highlight for me was the Tanji fish market, where I experienced the lively atmosphere of local trading. Sari, my guide, ensured I felt comfortable and secure throughout the experience.
The trip was excellent, and the crew, Ja and Sakho, made it enjoyable to travel with them. I participated in three tours, and each was great. Maintain that positive energy.
We appreciated the extensive sights of the city and countryside, which deepened our understanding of the local culture. The boat ride was relaxing, and witnessing the oyster beds among the mangroves was a unique experience. This is a fantastic trip that we highly recommend to all.
We had an excellent day out with our two older children. We explored a museum featuring crocodiles, and even got to touch one that came very close. The crocodile handlers provided great insights and took good care of us. Afterwards, we traveled through the bustling market in Serrekunda and reached Lamin Lodge, where we sailed on the river. Along the way, we spotted various birds, crabs, and oysters. We stopped at a sandbank and observed local women foraging for mollusks, and then walked through a stream to see an enormous, ancient silk tree. We also visited a charming village filled with adorable children. Our day concluded at a lively fish market, vibrant with locals selling and trading fish and other goods. It was an exciting and wonderful experience. Bring some extra cash to help support the locals, who share fascinating stories about their country and truly enhance the trip. Many thanks to our guide Amat!
