Our guide was excellent and knew precisely where to locate the animals, allowing us to see a diverse range. The host arrived on time, handled the passport procedures in Gambia, and ensured everything went smoothly.
Baboucarr and his drivers provided an outstanding experience. They were punctual and shared plenty of information. Their attentiveness during ferry and border crossings was impressive. I highly recommend this service.
My parents and I thoroughly enjoyed our safari tour from The Gambia to Senegal; I cannot recommend it highly enough. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to the ferry, which was exciting. We even spotted dolphins during the crossing. Tourists received priority boarding, making it a seamless experience. Upon our arrival, we switched to a 4x4 vehicle for the trip to the border. The scenic countryside was beautiful, and the border crossing was efficient and well-coordinated. The safari itself was the highlight; we witnessed an array of animals and truly felt we were experiencing an authentic safari, especially as we ventured off-road in our search for wildlife. On the return journey, we enjoyed a delightful lunch. While it is a lengthy day, it is absolutely worth it for such an unforgettable experience. Everyone was friendly and helpful, making it an exceptional outing. I would highly recommend this tour.
I went on the safari with my parents, and we were all very pleased with the experience. It's certainly exhausting, involving an hour's drive to the port, waiting for the ferry due to no fixed schedules, then a one-hour ferry ride, and another car ride to the border, which takes quite a while. After all that, you only get an hour in the park, and then it's the same journey back. However, it is still worth it! The park is not very large, and while it may not offer the most 'wild' experience since the animals are fed and easily found, it’s still enjoyable to see them in their natural habitat. Our guide was friendly and well-organized, and we also had lunch at a local restaurant.
This adventure is truly one for the books, especially if you're not easily rattled. Once you embark on this journey, other attractions in Gambia will pale in comparison. The entire experience, from hotel pickup to drop-off, is intense. You'll start by driving to the small, outdated ferry for a crossing to the north bank, where you’ll navigate through a crowd of vehicles while being careful. Tourists board first, and the rush of locals trying to get on is something you’ll want to capture on video. The ferry ride is slow, extending your journey. Upon arriving, you’ll walk through a bustling market to catch the next bus; keep your head down and avoid interaction for safety. Once on the bus, keep windows closed as eager children will press against the glass. To pass through the Gambian border patrol, you’ll need a passport stamp, and a Yellow Fever Card is mandatory for entering Senegal. If you lack one, you can pay the tour guide around £16 to convert it to Senegalese currency. After a brief stop at the Senegal border, where your passport may be held briefly if you haven’t provided the necessary documentation, you'll proceed to the Reserve. The wildlife experience there was fantastic; our guide had a knack for spotting animals, including Kevin the white rhino, various antelope, and a family of giraffes with newborns. The two hours spent there alone made it worthwhile, followed by delicious pizza for lunch. While the whole journey back was chaotic and dusty, it felt safe, and despite the challenges, I wouldn't trade this day for anything. The memories, both wonderful and rough, will stay with me forever.
It was enjoyable to have the ferry experience while traveling to the safari in Senegal. The old Dutch ferries still operate here. The local guide was excellent and friendly, organizing everything seamlessly.
An incredible experience overall. Our guide was excellent, and the safari was fantastic, especially the lion walk, which was an additional expense. The ferry crossing was surprising, offering a fascinating view of cargo ships being unloaded.
It was a wonderful day filled with memorable experiences. We were picked up at our hotel at 6:30 am, took the ferry, and reached the safari by around 10:30 am. After the safari, we enjoyed a delicious local meal before heading back to Gambia. The border crossing to Senegal and the ferry ride felt like organized chaos, but our guide ensured we were well taken care of. Overall, we had a delightful day with our guide, Jurunku.
I embarked on a safari in Senegal alone and couldn't have wished for a better guide. His extensive knowledge and fascinating insights made the experience truly memorable. He ensured my safety and comfort throughout, and even introduced me to a fantastic local restaurant, which was one of the best parts. The trip was laid-back and had a serene vibe, without any rush. I highly recommend this experience for solo travellers as well as groups.
This trip is a must-do. Our group of four was guided by Baboucar, who shared a wealth of knowledge and showed us a lot. Everything was well organized, and we believe it would be impossible to navigate without a guide.
