Our trip was wonderful, starting with a stunning sunrise at Bukit Setumbu and enjoying breakfast with Luwak coffee at a local café, where we got to take selfies with civet cats. Borobudur was awe-inspiring, and we were fortunate to reach the top level, which had been closed earlier this year. In the afternoon, we took it easy, but Ardi ensured we had a great view of Prambanan while avoiding the intense heat. Ardi is articulate, has good English, and is warm and personable. His extensive knowledge of Yogyakarta's sights, culture, and history was evident. As a professional, he was always on time, well-presented, and very accommodating. We appreciated the opportunity to customize our itinerary, and Ardi’s advice was always sound. When we inquired about the unique Salak fruit, he took us to a farm with a modest roadside stall, where the fruit was fresher and cheaper than at stores. He also arranged a delicious local grilled fish lunch for us. His suggestions were excellent, and he used his experience without being overbearing. His information was up-to-date, which is crucial given changing regulations. We highly recommend Ardi.
I booked this tour last minute while traveling alone, and Ardi was my guide. He was fantastic! He picked me up early to watch the sunrise at Bukit Setumbu and was very friendly, even though I felt bad for being tired. I dozed off during the drive. The sunrise view was decent, but I imagine it’s better from the temple at that time. The rest of the tour was excellent; we explored several smaller temples and he adjusted the itinerary based on the weather and my energy. Ardi is incredibly knowledgeable and shared fascinating stories about the temple details I photographed. His perspective on guiding is refreshing—he sees it as meeting a friend. By the end of the day, I felt just that! An added bonus was his photography skills; the pictures he took for me were the best of my entire trip.
The monuments and views were stunning. The people were friendly and attentive. Our driver, Damar, was great company and eager to add fun experiences like coffee and durian tasting. I highly recommend this tour. Due to COVID restrictions, the morning climb isn't offered anymore, but there's a scenic photo opportunity at a nearby viewpoint for sunrise.
