The journey includes highlights like the ancient Ara Metua, built in 1050 AD, alongside visits to historic marae, inland villages, and plantations. You'll also stop at the notable Avana Point, providing insight into the island's culture and history.
Light refreshments are provided during the tour. Note that if you're arriving on a cruise ship, you will need to book through your ship’s Shore Excursions Department, as direct bookings are not accommodated.
Reviews
The tour goes all around the island and provides intriguing insights about the local life and hidden spots that are off the typical tourist path.
I really enjoyed the tour and gained a lot of knowledge about the island. I would gladly do it again.
There were four stops during the bus tour, including a pleasant lunch with fruit and delicious date scones. While there was a brief segment on inland roads, most time was spent on the ring road, which could also be traveled via public bus. The commentary was engaging, sprinkled with a dry sense of humor, though the tour felt slightly overpriced. I received confirmation just five minutes before the bus arrived for pick-up. Four participants didn’t show up, likely due to their inability to reach anyone for four days over Easter, which seemed unprofessional for a tour company.
We took the 3-hour tour of Rarotonga with our family, including my mother-in-law. While it was enjoyable, it didn't quite meet our expectations in terms of value. The host was friendly, but the overall experience felt somewhat shallow. We often visited locations without much explanation, leaving us without a deeper understanding of the island. Lunch was adequate, though the fresh fruit stood out. For us, the primary benefit of a guided tour is the knowledge gained, and unfortunately, this tour didn't provide that. Considering the price, we felt it might have been better to rent a car and explore on our own. In summary, it was a nice experience, but not one we felt justified the expense.
The day was quite enjoyable as I learned about Rarotonga's history and its transformations. The lunch provided was pleasant, featuring fruit and cake.
This was an excellent tour filled with plenty of information. With just three of us, it felt very personal, and our guide was highly knowledgeable. It's definitely a worthwhile experience for first-timers in Rarotonga to familiarize themselves with the area.
An engaging tour of the island featuring multiple routes into its interior. The guide was friendly and cheerful, making the experience enjoyable.
This tour was incredible, providing great insights into the culture, history, and people of the Cook Islands. The guide was humorous, engaging, and exceptionally knowledgeable. I would rate it five stars.
The experience was enjoyable, and traveling by bus was a great choice, especially since it rained during our trip. I've noticed other tours use an open truck, but our bus kept us protected and dry.
I had a nice and informative experience that was a great way to kick off my visit to Rarotonga. I'm looking forward to exploring more places.
