Note that the Ellora Caves are not open on Tuesdays. • This site is the final resting place of Rabia-ud-Durrani, the first wife of Aurangzeb. Often referred to as the 'poor man's Taj Mahal', this mausoleum serves as a less grand replica of the Taj Mahal in Agra. A small archaeological museum is situated behind the mausoleum, which was constructed by Emperor Aurangzeb's son in 1679 AD in honor of his mother. • The caves, which are artificial, were carved out of soft rock during the 6th and 7th centuries. They are divided into two primary locations known as the Western Group Caves (caves 1-5) and Eastern Group Caves (caves 6-10), located approximately 1 km apart. Each group consists of five caves, characterized by architecture and iconography influenced by Tantric Hinduism.
