What's the itinerary?+
• The day begins with a pickup from the hotel, followed by a journey to the Ajanta Caves, which are noted for their elaborate rock-cut architecture. Their impressive frescoes and cave paintings rank among the finest examples of ancient Indian art. The caves are carved into a horseshoe-shaped rock face, approximately 76 meters high, overlooking the Waghur River. Constructed solely with hammer and chisel, these caves provided secluded spaces for Buddhist monks for about nine centuries before being suddenly abandoned. Their rediscovery occurred in 1819 by an Army officer from the Madras Regiment of the British Army during a hunting trip, leading to Ajanta's rise as a prominent tourist site in India. (Note: Closed on Monday) • Following the visit to Ajanta, the itinerary includes a trip to the Ellora Caves. These caves were excavated from the vertical face of the Charanandri hills between the 6th and 10th centuries AD, with carving work commencing around 550 AD, coinciding with the abandonment of the Ajanta caves. The Kailash Temple (cave 16) stands out as the most impressive structure, built by the Rashtrakuta dynasty as a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, likely resembling Mount Kailash, his celestial abode. The Kailash Temple is a unique, multi-storeyed complex crafted from a single massive rock, featuring a gateway, exhibition area, square hall, sanctum sanctorum, and tower, exemplifying the brilliance of Dravidian architecture. The Kailash Temple is noted for its architectural grandeur and elaborate sculptures. (Note: Closed on Tuesday)
