What's the itinerary?+
• Depart from the hotel in the early morning to travel with an English-speaking driver to Petra, known as the Nabatean Red Rose City and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. During the drive, take in the desert scenery and hear stories about Jordan’s history. Petra, carved by the Nabataean people approximately 2,000 years ago, is located 125 kilometers from Aqaba along ancient trade routes that dominated Arabia. • Arrive at Petra’s main site to delve into its rich history. After disembarking from the vehicle, take part in a 2-hour guided tour of this UNESCO Heritage site with a local guide. Begin by walking through the “Siq,” a 1.2-kilometer narrow fissure that served as the main entrance to the city, and be captivated by the striking Treasury, “El-Khazneh,” as the canyon opens up. • Appreciate this stunning pink monument, originally built to hold valuable treasures, and take photos. Continue through the expanding canyon to see other landmarks, including the 3,000-seat Theater, the Royal Tombs, and the Byzantine Church. While exploring, your guide will explain how the Nabateans designed the structures and adapted to the harsh desert environment. Following about two hours of exploration, free time will be available. If time allows, hike to the Monastery or the High Place of Sacrifice, a clifftop altar once used for rituals. Additionally, visit the Petra Museum if time permits, before rejoining your vehicle and driver. • Return to the entrance of Petra, where you will reunite with your private vehicle and driver. On the way back, pass by Little Petra, a small valley featuring carvings that is believed to have served as a caravan stop before reaching the main city, providing accommodations for traders. Conclude your journey back to Aqaba with a drop-off at your hotel. Please wear comfortable footwear and bring a sunhat for the day.
