Fantastic experience with excellent service at Tindesenteret. The view from the top is breathtaking, and the route to climb is truly remarkable.
My girlfriend and I had never done Via Ferrata before, but we were indoor climbers. I was initially concerned as I had read that it could be a tough climb. However, we found it manageable and felt we had plenty of energy left afterward; the descent was even more exhausting than going up. The experience itself was incredible and some of the most challenging climbing I've done, with drops of around 250-300 meters at very steep angles. While I am usually apprehensive about heights, this felt exhilarating. I wouldn't recommend it for those who are afraid of heights, but it was a fantastic adventure otherwise. We weren't thrilled about the weather, which included some rain and fog, but it didn't diminish the experience. Our guide from the Tindesenter was subdued and didn’t introduce herself, so we didn’t get her name. I would suggest getting a guide if you haven't climbed before.
The Romsdalsstigen West Wall offers an enjoyable challenge for those who are experienced with via ferrata and rock climbing. If you’re able to climb 5.9 indoors and 5.8 outdoors, and possess good physical conditioning and endurance, you'll be fine. We completed the route in 2 hours and 45 minutes from the pavement to the gondola, but we weren’t part of a group, which likely contributed to our speed. In a group setting, it could indeed take the 5-6 hours mentioned on the website. Important details to consider: - There’s no parking at the start, which is located 1.2 miles from the gondola ($350 NOK). Ideally, have someone drop you off to avoid a long walk through town. - The initial ascent and sections throughout the via ferrata involve significant steep climbing, which my husband, a stronger climber, found challenging. - If you're shorter than 5ft 4in, you might find some segments difficult as I had to stretch to reach the next clip or hold. Shorter climbers should aim to be above the stated climbing level and utilize the natural rock more. - The route employs many traditional metal bars, rings, and footholds, though there are brief sections relying more on natural rock formations. - There are about four overhangs that present challenges but provide excellent holds. A bit of upper body strength is needed to navigate these. - Despite misty weather, we had a great time, as it kept the wall cooler. There's always the option to take the gondola up on a sunnier day to hike the ridge for stunning views.
My mother and I had a fantastic time at Via Ferrata Vestveggen, despite being new to climbing. Our guide, Olger, was exceptionally skilled, helping us reach the summit while enjoying various fun challenges along the way. The views were breathtaking and made it a truly memorable experience. We wholeheartedly recommend this adventure—it's been the highlight of our summer vacation.
As two inexperienced climbers (a mother and her 17-year-old daughter), having only tried climbing and zipline parks before, we had a fantastic experience with our guide, Olger. The journey was both enjoyable and challenging, despite the elevation gain. We were apprehensive about the overhangs, but they were manageable and not as intimidating as we anticipated. We highly recommend this experience.
Incredible scenery, a good challenge, and completely justifies the time and expense. If you enjoy Via Ferrata, make sure you don’t miss this experience.
The scenery was breathtaking. While not extremely challenging, it does need a decent level of fitness. Our guide, Isaac, was both professional and humorous, sharing entertaining tales about the local trolls. A fantastic experience that I highly recommend.
This experience was absolutely incredible. As two relatively inexperienced climbers, we tackled our first Via Ferrata and completed it in less than 3 hours. The views were breathtaking, and our guide Mathias was fantastic—he was fun, informative, and ensured we felt safe throughout. He also captured great photos and videos of our adventure, which was a lovely extra. We were fortunate to be the only participants, allowing us to navigate the challenging sections of the west wall and Randers wall. It was tough at times but incredibly rewarding and enjoyable. Being short (4'9"), I needed to exert more effort at moments, yet it was manageable overall. Mathias even assisted me when I got stuck, which I greatly appreciated. We're completely hooked and can't wait for our next Via Ferrata. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience.
I had an incredible day in Vestveggen with the outstanding guide from Tindesenteret, Olger. He was the ideal companion for the adventure! Everyone in our group successfully completed both the Langwall and the wire.
