2026 will mark the 110th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, one of the largest and bloodiest offensives of the First World War. This battle lasted 4 and a half months resulting in 420 000 casualties in the British army, among them 360,000 were from the British Isles. To honour their memory, Get-a-guide is offering a “Taylor-made tour”. If you had a British relative who fought during this terrible battle; we will be pleased to research his service and design a full-day tour going in his footsteps. This includes visits to the major First World War sites in the Somme; such “Lochnagar Crater”, Thiepval Memorial of the missing and Newfoundland Memorial Park. As this work takes time, the tour can only be booked between now and the end of March, before the busy guiding season begins.
