• The impressive fort constructed by Emperor Akbar in 1583 A.D. is located on the banks of the Yamuna River at a confluence site. In its era, the fort was unmatched in its design, building techniques, and craftsmanship. This grand fort features three stunning galleries surrounded by towering structures. Currently, the fort is under the jurisdiction of the Indian Army, with only a portion accessible to visitors. The formidable outer wall remains intact and rises above the water line. Guests can view the Ashokan Pillar, Saraswati Kup (a well believed to be the origin of the Saraswati River), Jodhabai Palace, and the Patalpuri temple here. Also located on the grounds is the esteemed Akshaya Vat, known as the immortal Banyan tree. • Explore Anand Bhawan, the historic ancestral home of the Nehru family, which has been transformed into a museum. Significant decisions and events tied to the freedom struggle occurred here. The main structure features a museum displaying memorabilia from the Nehru family. • At the Sangam, where the Ganges and Yamuna rivers converge, priests known as pandas are positioned on small platforms to conduct puja rituals and assist worshippers with their ceremonial cleansings in the sacred waters. The Sangam is the meeting point of three highly revered rivers in Hindu mythology – Ganga, Yamuna, and the legendary Saraswati. Visitors can clearly see the waters of the Ganges and Yamuna merge at this location. During the Kumbh/Ardh Kumbh, the Sangam experiences a vibrant influx of devotees from across India and around the world.
