• Modhera Sun Temple is recognized as one of the premier examples of Hindu architecture in India, constructed in the 11th century under King Bhimdev I of the Solanki dynasty. Upon entering the temple complex, visitors will encounter Surya Kund, a large stepwell created for water storage, featuring over 1,000 sculptures of Hindu deities, animals, and celestial figures. At the heart of the complex lies the primary temple dedicated to Surya, the Hindu sun god, designed such that the first rays of the sun during equinoxes illuminate the idol in the sanctum. • Approaching Rani Ki Vav, you will notice a grand entrance leading to a staircase descending into the stepwell, which measures approximately 64 meters in length, 20 meters in width, and over 27 meters in depth. They have been practicing double-ikat weaving, a technique brought from Southeast Asia by their ancestors since the 11th century.
