Auroville

Auroville is an experimental township established in 1968, designed to embody the principles of human unity and sustainable living. Located about 8 kilometres from Pondicherry, its iconic Matrimandir serves as the meditation centre, surrounded by manicured gardens and community spaces that reflect diverse architectural styles from around the world. Plan to spend half a day exploring the various zones, such as the International Zone, which showcases cultures from many countries. Visiting in the cooler months is advisable, as the heat can be intense. Keep in mind that entry to the Matrimandir requires prior booking for guided tours.
